Your first visit

Here is what happens at your first appointment, and how to get ready for it.

What happens at your first visit

No pressure and no prepaid plans. You leave knowing what we found and what we suggest.

  1. We listen

You tell us how the pain started, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to.

  2. We examine

We check how you move and test strength and reflexes. If something needs a physician first, we say so and help you get there.

  3. We agree a plan

You hear what we think is going on, what treatment involves, roughly how many visits, and what it costs with your insurance. If chiropractic care is a good fit, treatment can usually start the same day.

Before you arrive

We will send you a short intake form by email after you book. Please fill it in before your visit if you can, or arrive 10 minutes early to complete it here.

Bring:

  • Your photo ID
  • Your insurance card, if you have one
  • A list of any medications you take
  • Any recent X-rays or MRI reports related to your pain

At your visit

  1. History. We ask about your symptoms, when they started, what makes them better or worse, and your general health.
  2. Exam. We check posture, movement, strength, reflexes and the areas that hurt. We only order imaging when it will change your care.
  3. Explanation. We tell you what we found and what we recommend, including how many visits we expect and what they will cost.
  4. Treatment. If you agree with the plan, we usually start the same day.

Paying for care

We accept most major insurance plans and Medicare. We verify your benefits before your first visit so you know your costs in advance. If you do not have insurance, ask us about our self-pay rates.

Insurance and cost

We verify your benefits before your first visit and tell you any out-of-pocket cost up front.
